Our next installation of Perfectly Strong Women – our new series featuring women who work with their hands, meant to inspire women to fulfill their dreams –  definitely has us in the holiday baking spirit! We recently met with Abby Lavin at Abigail’s Bakeshop in Brooklyn, NY.

What is your definition of a Perfectly Strong Woman?
A perfectly strong woman knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it.

Who is one woman who has been influential in pursuing your craft?
My Grandmother, Martha. She taught me how to bake at a young age. And told me when I became a Chef I should go by Abigail, not Abby. That is why I named my Bakeshop, Abigail’s.

What is one piece of advice that you would give a young woman aspiring to fulfill her dream?
Let your passion drive you. Be prepared to work hard and do not let anyone get in your way!

As a busy woman, what is one time-saving technique or life hack that you would share?
Know when to ask for help. Delegating tasks to your team or even friends and family will help save time.

Tell us about Jam Jar.
Jam Jar Bakery specializes in single serving pies and cakes in a jar. They are baked right inside the jar and ready to eat! They can be customized as a unique favor or gift for any special occasion. 

What is your one guilty pleasure?
Snacking on our chocolate chip cookies!
