This month’s installation of Perfectly Strong Women – our new series featuring women who work with their hands, meant to inspire women to fulfill their dreams – definitely has us ready to de-stress! We recently met with licensed celebrity massage therapist, Andrea Lohman on Long Island, NY.
What is your definition of a Perfectly Strong Woman?
A perfectly strong woman is unapologetic about who she is. She values herself. She chases what she believes in.
Who is one woman who has been influential in pursuing your craft?
My mother – she is a visual artist and gave me the confidence to pursue a career in the healing arts.
What is one piece of advice that you would give a young woman aspiring to fulfill her dream?
Get out of your comfort zone, don’t hesitate to take risks, and follow your passion every day.
As a busy woman, what is one time-saving technique or life hack that you would share?
I like to use this 5 Minute Meditation Technique: Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit, inhale and count to 5, hold your breath and count to 3, exhale and count to 8, hold your breath and count to 1. Repeat.
I also love basq NYC products for relaxation at home. The line’s Lavender Calming Oil is a must-have for de-stressing yourself and getting a good night’s sleep too. The Cooling Body Bliss is also great for soothing yourself post workout or even just after a long day on your feet.
Tell us about your massage therapy practice.
I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist for over 17 years. My clientele ranges from celebrities and athletes to newborns and the elderly. I am a mobile therapist, so I travel to my clients, providing treatments in the comfort of their home, office, Green Room, corporate event, backstage…you name it!
What is your one guilty pleasure?
Anything horror/zombie-related! I enjoy kicking back on Sunday nights after the kids go to bed to watch “The Walking Dead”.
