Mani Monday with Becca Durlin

Today’s Mani Monday is from busy mom and blogger Becca Durlin. Becca is a mom of 2 boys with one on the way, so she doesn’t have time to head out for a manicure – she’s the queen of DIY manicures. Check out her nail art tips for some creative ideas! You can find Becca on Instagram and on her blog.

How do you prep your hands for the perfect at-home manicure?
Wash my hands, apply my favorite lotion so my cuticles soften up but avoiding my nails, use a little nail polish remover to prep my nails and paint away!

Are there any nail trends that are good for beginners to try?
Accent nails!! I love a good accent nail and all you need is another contrasting, or lighter/darker color than the rest of your hand, or glitter which is super fun for special occasions!

What are some tips for doing basic nail art (french manicure, dots, stripes)?
Pick up some circle dot stickers like the ones for garage sales (I know I sound crazy) but if I put then on my name below where my French tips would start then paint that space… once it’s dry you have easy & perfectly shaped tips!

How do you change up your DIY manicures for special events?
Like I mentioned, I love doing a fun glitter coat! Or depending on the season I go darker (fall/winter) or brighter (spring/summer).

What are your favorite colors from Perfect Formula?
This Keeping it Teal is so dang fun and right up my alley with the bright color but I love the white almost iridescent sheen of Mystic! Also, I know Mystic will last through all the momming I need to do in a day so that’s a huge perk!
